Folks, we had a Foreign Criminal Hacker get on the site at 4:00 am today. Thankfully our software flagged a suspicious account name and location.
The guy was trying to sell a Leupold scope. I actually got him to contact me by phone and I could tell immediately he was a scammer -- foreign accent and strange noises and foreign words in background.
LESSON: Never spend a penny without a VOICE phone call first. You MUST do a VOICE CALL!!!
A couple members were tempted last week by a scammer who posted a S&W 686 with a crazy low price. The photos were grabbed off the internet.
FOLKS don't be a fool tempted by a low price. For any and all products you MUST insist on a custom photo.
That means something such as a request to "take a picture of the [item] on the seat of your car with a hat in the picture." The scammers can't do that.
FOLKS I have explained these things over and over and over. But people are still too lazy to pick up the phone and dial. Or they are too trusting to demand a custom photo. Understand that there may be an account in good standing that was hacked minutes before. You MUST follow these precautions always.
