Warne Premier Bases and Rings?

Silver $$ Contributor
I just got a Cooper from a forum member which came with rings and bases. As far as I know, they are Warne Premier bases and rings, which I believe are no longer made. They are vertically split rings that are similar to the Talley rings and bases I have on my newer Cooper. Are these generally good rings and bases? Have all of you that have used them been happy with them? Is there anything I should know about using them? Looking for any and all comments.

Thanks,

Danny

I think the newer model Warne rings are called Maxima. Always carry a nickel to tighten them down after every shot and maybe some Gorilla tape to keep them on the mounts (wrap all the way around the stock). :p
Seriously, they are all I use and one of the base options offered by Cooper. I'm a fan of the vertical split. Never had a problem on at least 15 different rifles (most are Coopers).
Can't give an opinion on the older Premier model.

The Warne Premier bases and rings are all steel of excellent quality and were quite expensive back when they were available. I have a set of the quick detachable Premier rings and you can take the scope off and remount with no change in zero. I would leave the ones you received on the rifle unless you have reason to change them out.

I am going to leave them on and use them. My preference would probably be for Talley, which I have on my Cooper Model 38 Montana Varminter, but these seem fine and I don't have to spend money on bases and rings if I use them.
