I have a Savage 12 in .223 and the stock is really flimsy. I figured to switch out to a McCrees or a XLR. Just noticed the box mag set ups are only for the .308 family of cartridges. What to do for a box mag set up for .223?

I want to go to a 10 round box. PTG has bottom metal for .223 and 10 round box?Your current blind mag should transfer to the new stock.
PTG has bottom metal amd mags if you want something more.
According to the web site....
I have a CDI bottom and use AI mags. You need to remove the rear bolt baffle, which limits the stroke length, and cut it shorter in order to increase the stroke. No problem.According to the web site....

Yep....I do appreciate your help though.I guess you have your answer.
Ok, I'll look into that. Thanks. (I'm not sure what a rear bolt baffle is but I'll figure it out)I have a CDI bottom and use AI mags. You need to remove the rear bolt baffle, which limits the stroke length, and cut it shorter in order to increase the stroke. No problem.

[/QUOTE]The xlr will work fine for your 223 it uses ai style 223 mags which fit in the same mag well as the 308 mags. I would not recommend the ai 223 10 round plastic mags as they have given me feeding issues. Good luck and enjoy your new stock/chassis.
