That mention of free bore got me thinking about the poster stating he was thinking of the 87 V-Max with a 1-8 tw. in 6BR. I dedicated a barrel to varminting in my heavy bench gun and figured the 87 V-Max would be probably close to ideal in getting a bullet that is a true varmint bullet and would reach relatively close to the lands in a tube that was set up for 105's. long story short - that tube would not shoot those 87's for anything. Tried the 75-V-Max and all in a ragged hole - despite a longer jump. Even 55 Grain bullets shot better, which were tried just for the fun of it. I bring this up as the poster is thinking about free bore for the 87 grain. If doing that, I'd keep the tolerances tight and very little free bore in case your rig turns out to not like the 87's. The choices for varmint bullets of that weight or longer are fewer.
