Walker Custom Rifles - New F T/R Build

Leaddog

F-Class T/R
Jeff Walker of Walker Custom Rifles, Culpeper, VA recently built me a new F T/R Rifle. The rifle is built on a Tooley/Orion Stiller Action and is fitted with a Hart .308 10 Twist 28" barrel. The rifle was 'smithed to shoot the Berger 185 LRBT's. I now have 500 rounds through the rifle and can say, it is an exceptional shooter. Jeff did an outstanding job. I highly recommend his work.

Finishing out the rifle, Alex Sitman of Master Class Stocks did the stock and bedding work. Alex is a world class stock maker and a true craftsman. The rifle sports a March 10-60x52mm Tactical scope with Nightforce rings. Bipod is John Weil's Centershot.

I have included a couple of photos as well as a 10 shot group shot at 300 yards during load development. After the CCB shot, the 300 yard group settled into .62” vertical. I did not correct for any wind as I was looking for only vertical. I just let the wind move the bullet. .62” at 300 yards is .197 MOA ( .62/3.141). ES/SD was 13/5, so I still have some work there with seating depth.

Thanks for taking a look.

Charlie,
That's a good looking rig. How many months did you wait for the parts and the rifle to get built?

KT

Beautiful rifle you have their sir and makes me want to get into it. We have 600 yard F class matches here at the club i belong to but have never shot or entered any matches as i do not have a rifle for it. Tell me a little about your action as i am not familiar with it.

Thanks, guys.

To answer a couple of questions from above.....

I was able to get the action right away from Dave Tooley (thanks to a heads up from Jeff), however it took Hart about 3 months to get the barrel to Jeff. After that, Jeff got the gun smithed in about 3 - 4 weeks. The stock took about 3 or 4 months.

The action is a single left load, right eject Stiller Predator. It's a solid action and I am happy with it.

Just to reiterate - Jeff is one of the best up and coming gunsmiths out there. If you are anticipating a new build, give him a call. You'll be glad you did.
