W-W brass vs Hornady brass

22-250 can't find any W-W but did find some Hornady in 22-250. Weight difference was 11 grs less for the Hornady than W-W . If I load same charge I wonder what difference there will be ? 36.5 grs of Varget behind 53gr V-Max 12" twist .

Wapiti is correct. Anytime you change components you basically work up again. If you push that hornady brass with hot loads you will ruin the primer pockets.

The difference will be lower pressure IF the difference in weight equals more case volume in grains of water. This will garner lower velocity, too.
Winchester brass is GENERALLY harder than all other brands except military.
I would work up from 5% (3gr's) below your normal charge weight and check for excessive pressure signs.

Cheers.

His 36.5 grain charge weight less 3 grains would be an 8.3% reduction, not 5%, so says me cheap calculator: 36.5 -8.3% 36.5 = 33.5

Five percent would be 36.5 – 5% 36.5 = 34.7 grains, or a 1.8 grains reduction, not 3.

I agree that any change in components means folk need to sneak back up on the charge weight they were using before the change, but start over testing how much lower? The same loading manuals that tell us to never go below their stated minimum charge weight turn right around and say reduce by 10% which often enough calculates as below that stated minimum, then what’s we supposed to do? :-\

I had been taught that for every 11 grs. difference in brass weight one should reduce the powder load by 1gr. I have been using that rule for some time now and it seems to hold up.
