W in Mod 70 rear sight base

I have a Win Mod 70 Tgt rifle in .308 that I want to shoot with iron sights. I have a standard Redfield rear sight base. When I attached my Redfield Palma rear sight, the aperture does not center and is way to the left. Even running windage all the way right will not work. Did they make rear sight bases with different widths? Is the Palma r/s only for small bore rifles (it centers on my 52D Win with no problem but the mount is thinner).

The receiver is post 64 and the rifle is an original with the clip guide in the receiver. Help appreciated. Thanks, Dennis

I have one of the satern bases on order directly from them. If you want one go to their website. They are on closeout for $60. An impossible deal to beat!

Thanks for the suggestions and response. I found my problem was that I was using a Win Mod 52D base (W 490) instead of a WB 490 which is for a Win Mod 70. The WB 490 measures at .312. Thanks again.
