Vudoo quality

Bolt Gun Bodacious
I own 2 a V22 repeater, and a 3-60 single shot F-class gun. I been into rimfire BR competition about 4 years, first with a CZ 455 and 457. I instantly went from bottom of the pack to top3 in our club matches (good shooters, NOT world class, neither am I :) ) when iI switched to Vudoo. (I generally shoot off a front bipod and rear sandbag even for BR matches as I like to shoot, not to micrometer)

Anyway, on the interwebz, I'm reading of Vudoo fail to chamber and to some less degree fail to extract / eject. My experience is totally different. 100% reliability in both guns 100%.

But most anything that goes "mass production" and into the hands of the gen pop will get futzed up. Mass production focuses on speed, not precision. It is possible as Vudoo tries to crank out alot of these guns, quality declines? (Again, that's NOT my PERSONAL experience.

Or I wonder if ppl trying to save a few bux order a barrelled action, drop it in a cheap chassis / stock, torque the action bolts improperly, don't "bed" the stock, etc, and get fail to feed problems from magazines not properly indexed to the chamber?

Whatcha hearing? Whatcha think? All I can relay is my own experience, which is 100% positive x 2.

There are long threads on the Vudoo repeater and single shot over on "The Hide" if you visit that forum. I have a V22-s set up for BR with a 1 piece rest (ABRA/ARA/PS150) . The only extraction issue with mine is the brass will stay in/on the loading ramp if I don't run the bolt (RBLP) at the preferred speed. Too slow and it drops off the bolt face and stays on the ramp. I have a 64 MPR that does the same thing, it's all about how fast you run the bolt.

A buddy that shoots the same matches as I has an almost identical gun but RBRP, he has the same problem at times. It's not a big issue for either of us as we can just pick the empty case out and move on. If we run the bolt hard or "snap" the bolt open, cases eject better but will land on the next bench over. LOL

Both of us are very pleased with our guns, very accurate, and the fit & finish is pleasing to the eyes. Time will tell on how all the components will hold up with use.

I've had that happen. The bolt needs a certain speed on my 3-60 to fully eject the shell. When I run it right, it works.

On my 22R, never had an ejection problem at any bolt speed.

I own a v22 as well, and I have owned it since last October. I have roughly 6500-7500 rounds on it if I recall and have had the occasional feeding problem but not enough for me to make a fuss about. The accuracy and reliability in 6000+ rounds has been beyond what I’ve seen from anything else and I’d buy more in a heart beat. Today in a match I had 1 jam related to full weight of rifle testing on the mag. Luckily it was a 9 round course of fire not 10 so it didn’t hold me up. From 25-350 (furthest I’ve shot) I’ve been nothing but pleased and blown away. I have heard of these issues though just not my experience either!

I've shot Eley for the most part in mine, but have tried several different brands/level of ammo for break-in and giggles, and just seems to be dependent on how you run the bolt. I've shot maybe 100 rounds of Lapua brand ammo. I've got more Eley than Lapua, so.....

I started dealing with Mike Bush before he brought the V-22 action to production, by having a very good shop in N.C. convert a couple of CMP 40X/XB actions to repeaters to use the early V-22 magazines. Jonathan Elrod owns Modacam Rifles, and was one of the early & best shops to utilize the CNC drawings & programs that Mike supplied free to a few shops he felt were up to the task of turning out quality repeater conversions. The two 40Xs that Jonathan converted for me were sent to him as bare actions, since I wanted to barrel them myself after getting them back. Between Jonathan's taking the time to talk me through finishing the fine-tuning of the extractors/pushers on these two actions, and Mike's willingness to replace one or two problematic magazines, I wound up with two very accurate & reliable rifles that I shot in semi-local 22RF PRS-type matches, and had a great deal of fun while doing so.

When Mike partnered with the fine folks at Vudoo Gun Works to produce the V-22 action, I sold the converted 40X, keeping the 40XB - which I still have - and then purchased a V-22 action in Sept. of 2017. I followed the tenon drawing for the V-22 to the letter while fitting & chambering a Krieger sendero contour bbl, and wound up with a very slick-running rifle which shot very well with select lots of SK Std+, Rifle Match, and LR Match ammo, even though I used a PTG Eley EPS reamer. After putting around 500rds through it, I started having extraction/ejection problems, so called Paul at VGW for help. He immediately offered to repair the action if I'd ship it to him, but after explaining that I'd worked on the extractor/pushers of the converted 40Xs, he told me the modifications to these parts was pretty simple, and texted me a video showing in good detail what they were doing to correct the problems at VGW, then mailed me new parts. It took me well under an hour to remove the originals, modify them as shown in the video, and replace them - and that rifle has ran great ever since. I've sold several V-22s to customers since then, and now own three Gen 1 V-22 rifles of my own, plus a V-22S RBRP single shot rifle, and one of their new Three-60 actions that will be built as soon as I have time to finish replacing the spindle bearings of my JET lathe.

I've not had a single complaint from any of the guys I've sold a V-22 to, although I have had to learn to run the bolt of the V-22S single shot with some speed to get consistent ejection. But I keep my rifles pretty clean, unlike some of the photos I've seen online of V-22 actions full of 22RF crud & fouling. Evidently, some folks don't feel the need to clean a 22RF with any kind of regularity - call me OCD, but when I invest what it costs to buy a custom action, barrel, trigger, etc to complete a truly accurate 22RF rifle, I like to take care of it. I start every cleaning session by blowing the crud out of the action with compressed air, and then wipe the bore with a few patches soaked in Ed's Red solvent. Another couple of dry patches - after wiping the wet fouling at the muzzle off - and I'm done in far less time & effort than it takes to clean one of my CF rifles. And I clean after every range session, whether I run 5 or 105rds through the barrel.

My only issue with Vudoo rifles is they will NEVER shoot better than I can shoot them. ;)
Seriously, I bought my first one used and it had some nagging issues when it got here. When I spoke to Paul he said this was an early gun and he was not shy at all about wanting me to send the rifle in so they could make sure it had all the latest upgrades. In the two years following it has not skipped a beat.
I bought a second but wound up selling it to a good shooting buddy a couple months ago. He is already beating me with it !
Oh, and I know I'll wind up with a 3-lug model sooner or later.

IMO, Vudoo rifles are far from being "mass produced". Please consider that their chambers are tight match chambers and could give problems using mass produced ammo. They tell you up front that these guns are set up for Lapua ammo. Also, letting the gun get too dirty may cause problems too. Keep the chamber and leade clean.

vudoo actions are outstanding, no questions this company is top notch true leaders in the sport. i have put barrels on several and as a whole there really isnt anything better out there. PTG has a new repeater coming to the market sometime soon i hope. more choices is always good. Good excuse for buying another action anyway. LOL

Pacific Tool and Gauge ???????

I’ve spent time with 2 vudoo’s one of which I own, 2 rimx’s and a handful of cz’s. While everything is nice, I wouldn’t trade my vudoo for anything. Has quickly become my most used and looking for another

When I go to the range and take more than 1 .22 rifle it seems like it's always the Vudoo that comes out unless I bring someone with me. After several thousand rounds it runs like melted butter and functions flawlessly unless I get lazy with the bolt. I hope they keep doing what their doing. And to top it off they're a great group of people to talk to and deal with. I'm working on breaking in my second one now and it also looks like it's capable of shooting better than I can. I mainly shoot for fun but we have club shoots about once a month from 50 to 300 yds which I really enjoy. I wish everybody I shoot with could afford one.

Have had my Vudoo since Sept of 2017 and no issues. I have had it in multiple Manners stocks with mini chassis. Usually when you see feeding issues it's due to how the person installed the barreled action and what stock chassis they are using. It's a balancing act to get it set up right and sometimes when people install them the magazine doesn't sit as it should. This is why some chassis makers are making adjustable mag releases now.

Also as mentioned, Vudoo actions are far from mass produced. They are custom actions and they build custom rifles.

I have a few Vudoo rifles and a single shot on the way. Very well built custom rifles.

I have nothing but good things to say about mine.
