That rifle is way way up there in quality and capabiility. As for the ammo, depends on where you want to go with the rifle. Wolf is decent and personally, I'd NEVER go below that level. But if you want to talk serious and true rifle capabaility (and costs ALOT more), better get up into the Eley (Red/Tenex/ Eley Black), Lapua CenterX, Lapua Midas+, RWS 50, Federal Ultra Match UM22. Rimfire Rifles are all notoriously sensitive to ammo's. but Olympic quality rifles (such as a Vostok) demand upper quality ammo to perform.....and man do they perform once you find that load. I wish somebody would buy me a Vostok! Lucky son you have!

They are the rifle to beat every week where I shoot at . Your son has one of the best there is imo epecially for the money. I have one and would buy another one in a heartbeat. Joey

These are very accurate rifles and mine loves the wolf. It shoots one hole at 50 yds. from prone with sling. The case of wolf I have says made by Lapua. I have tried other more expensive ammo and was disapionted.

Try Eley Club (Oranger Box).

The top hole was the one & only sighter. Scope was adjusted for zero based on that one, single hole. Then 5 shots fired. Vostock rifle, B&L 36X scope. Note: This was not a NIB rifle. This was one of the older ones CDNN imported 6 or 7 years ago, when the clean ones were being sold.
