Vortex

Now i have not put mine to an actual test to say yes or no, but i can say the cheeper ones just dont feel good positive clicks when adjusting. I have several models. I have a viper HST that feels beter and my razor gen 2 feels good. As far as tracking correctly, can not say

Ok thanks

The only Vortex i have is a golden eagle. I put it through a tall target test. I only went 40 moa because that was more than adequate. At each 10.5 inches i marked off the 3 shot group was right there at the mark. And when i dialed back down 40 moa and took another shot it was on the peal and stick 1 inch paster. I had aligned the vertical by levels on the knobs and at 40 moa it hadn’t deviated from the line. This is the same performance that i get with Nightforce. I am a happy camper.

As to cheaper optics i cannot talk about because I don’t use them that away. They get zero’d and just stay there

I did an impromptu test several months ago. 10 MOA up, down, 5 MOA left, and right. I went around for two shots each. That's the largest paper I had. The gun was shooting .5 MOA and all holes were within .5 MOA. The scope is a Venom which is their lowest grade long range scope. 10 MOA is less than a quarter of full travel, so the test was a basis for further testing. I did work the turrets full travel high, low, left, and right and shot a return to zero that was dead on. Does that mean the scope is descent? Maybe, maybe not, more testing is required when I get the opportunity.

3 new diamond none of them tracked properly for zeroing, all held zero once there. Decided I won't be able to dial and shoot any of them. So they are set and leave in my experience. These were put on Savage M12 varmint 204R, pretty accurate rifles, for prairie dog.

Ok seems you need to get high price scopes too track good

Vortex assembles scopes in the USA, Japan, Phillipines, and China. I personally have never had the Chinese stuff work for me, even to sight in. One was a pistol holographic sight - dead out of the box, and two Diamondbacks.

Ok thanks unfortunately you have to spend lots of money too get a scope that will track well unless there’s some out there I don’t know about

Kochie, Not trying to sound like a snob, But, the old saying, “ You Pay For What You Get” is as true a saying as there ever was. You pay for quality plain and simple. Sure, you can, and, I have, bought lesser scopes but you will not be satisfied until you get a good quality one. The saying “ Buy Once, Cry Once”. Save to get a good quality scope and you will not be disappointed.. Just my .02 and I am not rich either.

I am not a scope expert. But I have found my Sightrons to be solid and if you are careful you can find some real deals on them. I bought a 3x16 Sightron S-Tac moa reticle from Graf & Sons for $274 two weeks ago. I also like Meopta - I only have one - but I failed to take advantage of some great deals just before and after Christmas. I also look at Tract, but only have their 2x10 right now, that is also a great performer. There are two words I hear and read so much that they have created a mental aversion in my head - Vortex and Amazon. I'm happy for the people who have had good luck with Vortex, but I don't gamble, and once I decide to spend over $1k for a scope (used or new), many options pop up.
