Vortex Viper PST reviews?

Now that a little more time has passed since the Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 has hit the scene, does anyone have any first-hand comments about the scope? It still seems to be an exciting new and affordable piece.

I know this is a pro-Sightron III website but I purchased two of them (6-24 and 8-32) and was disappointed with its reticles and finicky eye-relief (blacking out).

Wow, I don't think so. I think it's a pretty dogmatic bunch, and there's definitely a bias toward higher-end optics, but not pro-Sightron. ;)

Anyway, I'm interested in the responses too.

Having not viewed the new PST's, as they have not been re-released yet, their claim to fame will be their reticles. The glass if as good as the standard Vipers is quite good, but I do not think that it will be quite as good as the SIII series scopes.

I hope that I am wrong, but from the initial reaction of the optics, before they pulled them back to correct the turret issues, was that it was very good glass, but not stellar. I guess we will find out when they are re-released, which will hopefully be soon, to see if the glass is as good as the Sightron SIII or not.

I too am interested in the PST's, as I want a tactical reticle system in a scope with quality turrets. I do not expect a sub $1000.00 scope to have glass the equal of a S&B, Zeiss, IOR, March, etc. I want as good as is humanly possible, but just realistic.

I wished that Sightron would offer a more tactical style reticle like the Night Force NP-R1 and NP-R2. That would be a sweet option and provide alternatives to consider in the sub $1000.00 market.
