The scope is so new, it will be hard to get a review outside the "tactical" crowd as they have been on the waiting lists. The wait has been long and there just starting to show up.
I spoke to one Tactical/ F-Class shooter who had used one and gave it high marks. A optics dealer said it's close to the Sightron SIII but gave the Sightron the edge as the SIII is made in Japan. The PST's reliability is the unknown, It's made in the Philippines with Jap glass.
The SIII tactical may be a good option if your OK with a SFP reticle. For pure target shooting a SFP may be better anyway.
Looked through one, not a bad package depending on which one you get. I think the glass on a SIII is a little better though, any particular reason you are looking at a more tactical scope rather than a target scope. The price difference seems really neglible between the two, and I personally don't think the FFP SFP issue really effects a civilian shooter. If you are looking at more than a target scope, the SWFA SS 5-20x50 Tactical 30mm is hell of deal these days with the discount, although its only a twenty power.
Check with euro optics, they had some in stock last week, I just got one from them. Haven't shot with it yet but compared it side by side with a sightron slll 8-32x56 set on 24 power at 250 yards around dusk dark and it was pretty even, the sightron may have had a very slight edge in glass but the pst is the more complete package in my opinion.
I'm not too sure why I want a tac scope. I should just do the smart thing and get a target scope. For some reason I thing I'm going to get a tac rifle. But I'm sure I won't for at least a year. Plus I love the idea of ranging the target.
For ranging with a tac scope, you'll want a FFP (most likely).
Scott at liberty optics is a very good dealer also. There's a lot of guys on the PST - FFP,SFP, MOA and MILL wait lists. I was on such a list and opted out. Scott did have a delivery a couple of weeks ago, so they're coming in. It's been eagerly awaited by the tactical types.
If your cool with milldots The Weaver Tactical or new Super Sniper may be of interest to you.
josh11, if the scope will be primarily for target shooting I would get one for that reason and that reason alone. I bought a NXS 12-42x56 for my new FTR rifle build, I use a 16x IOR and NF 2.5x10 on my tactical rifles. I could use the NXS on my tactical rifle but it would be a little much I think personally.
