Vortex Venom 5-25x56 compared to Vortex Viper Gen 2 5-25

The PST is better in glass and the knobs with it's zeroing and stop but the Venom is good in it's price range at $499 with a zero stop like the Strike Eagle and a good amount of elevation and a 7C reticle.

I have several PSTs. How much better is the glass? I've been looking at the Venom as well.
All the PSTs I have are the Gen I and they run a 30mm tube. I'm guessing that the Gen II is running a 34mm tube like the Venom and Strike Eagle.
Also, what would you say between the Venom and strike eagle?

Compared to the Gen 1 PST the Venom is better for glass. The Venom is better in most ways to the Gen 1 PSTs. The Gen II PST uses a 30mm tube as well.

The major differences between the Venom and Strike Eagle are:
No illumination on Venom
No locking turrets on Venom
25mils/85MOA on Venom versus 31mils/110MOA on Strike Eagle.

Both Venom and Strike Eagle use the same zero stop set up.

Strike Eagle on left and Venom on right.

Nice Rig by the way!

i really like my 2 strike eagles....but i would love it if they made the illumination optional. pretty much...give me a venom with locking turrets and id be set.

i have yet to EVER use illumination in my short 20 years of shooting

Illumination is one of those things it’s better to have and not need until you do need it. I use mine at matches when shooting shot up steel or into darker areas. Just makes aiming point clearer.

Trying to buy a scope that is all made in USA is like trying buy a car with all American parts

I understand Lkwebb. My favorite scope I’ve ever owned was my Razr AMG 6x-24x. I purchased it pre-Wuhan and even then it still wasn’t 100% USA made.

I have no problem with Vortex using Japanese, Filipino or other manufacturers. As they are not actively trying to destroy western civilization and society. Vortex has had plenty of time to find friendlier budget scope manufacturers without having to resort to Chinese enemies of the USA.

Someday Americans will have to take our lumps and learn our lessons when it comes to American exceptionalism and realizing where our true enemies lie. Let’s just hope it doesn’t hurt too much and we aren’t too far gone. Until then, I‘ll avoid any kind of business with China whenever I can.

That AMG is about the most USA made scope you can find with only the reticle being made in Germany. I have one of the first ones that is 100% made in the USA. Vortex tried to find a reticle maker in the US that could do what they need but couldn’t. Most likely the same thing with being able to make scopes like the SE and Venom anywhere else but China. Most all scopes in those prices are Chinese unfortunately but just comes down to cost.
