Vortex Ranger 1000 question

Hello everyone, I just received my new Vortex Ranger 1000 today. When I go to range an object the red cross hairs disappear, then I get a reading, is this the way this range finder is suppose to operate? Thanks for the help.

Call Vortex.

Just checked mine.

First push of the button, unit turns on

Second click of the button brings up the red cross hair.

Third click, cross hair dissappears for around 2 seconds and the reading comes up.

Thank you dlong, that is how mine is working too. I don't think it is to swift that the cross hair disappears while ranging but the scan mode helps with that.
