Vortex golden eagle - ERC vs SCR help

Anyone using vortex competition which reticle do you prefer - ERC with dot or the SCR fine cross hair? Let me know ur thoughts thanks in advance.

I have the ECR in mu GE. For F-Class, I would not use anything else. I have a clear view of the target center. To me, the SCR doesn't provide that unrestricted view.

I'll be the voice of dissent here, and say the SCR.

I used the old 2DD reticle to collect my fair share of shiny back when, and I do love that style of reticle. But pretty much every time I've tried one of the newer, and much smaller/finer, floating dot reticles it's been the same story: super precise on a white or light blue target for load development, but I completely lose the center dot against a black target on all but the brightest days.

Most recently I tried an ECR-1, and I could only see the dot when it crossed a line on the target - far from ideal. Luckily I found someone willing to trade straight across for an SCR-1, and now we're both happy. IIt's not perfect - I'd rather have a 1/8 moa dot in the middle of the lines - but it works.

One thing that might play into it for you is that I noticed the vertical line in the SCR-1 appears much darker than the horizontal. Apparently this may be my slight astigmatism coming into play... which might explain why I've had the issues with the fine center dots that I have.

Same here. The old NP-2DD aiming dot is about 10% larger than the dot on similar reticles from current Vortex and NF scopes (~.105 vs .095 MOA @ 40X). I occasionally even have issues losing the NP-2DD dot against the target black, especially in lower light conditions such as cloudy days, the first match in the morning. I recently picked up an IOR-Valdada fixed 36X BR scope with a 0.125 MOA floating dot. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...is all I can really say. So much nicer to have a good solid (big) dot I can see without any issues whatsoever against the target black.
