Vortex Fury RF Binocular?

I was just looking to see if anyone here has any experience with the generation II Fury rangefinding 10x42 binoculars. Looks like in the$950 price range now. These might be a player at this price with the Vortex warranty, if they will do the job.

I believe they are mostly the same as the Sig Kilo 3000 BDX LRF.

The Sig has the advantage of Bluetooth connectivity to use a smart phone ballistic calculator, the full BDX LRF/scope setup or connect to a Kestrel for the most precise calculations with weather.

As a rangefinder, the Sig is very nice, as binoculars they are pretty nice too but not spectacular. If you are trying to consolidate, they do that. If you insist on high end glass, they might not be what you are looking for. For me, they are fine.

I have a pair and really like them. I ran a loaner set at Steel Safari and they worked great, so I bought some. Laser is super fast, accurate and goes far. Glass is decent for the price-point. It's not going to compare to Leica/Swaro glass, but the laser beats them and the price crushes them. Nothing in that price range can compare (SIG is basically the same device w/o the Vortex warranty and bluetooth)

That’s a great review, much appreciated!

Yes, that would be great to hear your comparison of the two models of the Fury, Thanks!
From just handling them, about the only difference I noted was the button you use to range with is now much easier to find without looking. On the Gen I it does not stand up as tall, and I still have to look at time (especially when wearing gloves).

Just called Vortex to see what they had to say. The ranging emitter (I think that is what he called it) has been increased dramatically in size, which gives it the ability to range up to 5000 yards on a reflective target. Still only good to 1600 yards for a deer. And 1600 was all the Gen I were good to on a reflective target, 1000 for deer. He said your probably wouldn't notice the difference in the glass (so I took that to mean the glass was changed slightly.

I had the occasion to use their VIP service on my annual month long prairie dog hunt. After using my Fury's for a while the ranging button became very insensitive to triggering. I would have to depress it several times to turn them on, then several more times to get them to range. Very limiting especially since I might typically range over 1000 targets in a days hunt. Normal procedure was I would send them in, and they would fix or replace them. But since I'm not at home, they did me a special favor. They checked around until they found a new pair, and arranged with the store, to do an exchange with me. So I basically lost no time from my hunt in making the trade. I was blown away they would do this for me.

For my use, the Fury rf binos, just make life so much easier than using binos, going to RF, then rifle scope. Saves me a step. What would I like to see differently? Even set to the lowest brightness setting, the range readout is UN-necessarily bright. In dim light it would be really bright. And I wind up changing batteries every 3-4 days, but like I said, I use them a tremendous amount during my hunt. For normal usage the battery life would be excellent.

Thank you all for replying. I’m at the point of needing to upgrade from a Nikon RF that will only do 400+ on bright sunny days. The advantage to glass and range at the same time would be great, I just didn’t think the binoculars would ever get to my price point. This is good news.

I don't have that effect with brightness. I have to keep mine turned way up. Different eyeballs I guess. I also have not had to change batteries. Mine seem to be lasting. I use mine mostly in PMS type matches.

Side note:
The new Fury (not sure if the old does this), has a scan feature. Hold the range button down and it cycles the laser super fast and hits as much as it can to get you ranges from everything in and around it. scan-mode=4 times per second.
It has a HCD mode that is good for "corrected distance" to 1600y for angle. The true distance "LOS Mode" is good the 4k yards or so depending.
All I want more out of these is better glass for mirage, trace and picking up rusty targets in dim places. It's hard to look through Swaro/Leica/Zeiss and then through anything less than those and still be happy o_O. At least I still have money...

I have had a set since they came out and really like them. I have only been able to get out to about 1900 yards with them so far but have friends who have hit rocks at over 3000 yards with them. I think the glass is very good and I use them to spot with at matches. No issues seeing any targets. All in all a great package that can range as far as most any shooter will need.
