Voldoc connected on a 1412 yd dog this evening
in Holly, Co. Jr in Ky (Joe Carter) witnessed the
incredible shot. Very windy but Doc said there
was a let-up for a couple of minutes giving a
window for the shot and he took advantage.
He will be home Sunday and give more details.
6 mm BRX
Bat action
105 Hybrid
Obeche ST 1000
Nightforce

Tell that little ole Doc that WD said congratulations and good shootin.

And to keep that Sako 6ppc in tune.... I want another crack at him. ;) WD

I'm surprised he would use Hybrids for hunting.

A few days ago I had my portable steel set up at 750 yards in a newly planted corn field. The wind was very gusty so I had my fair share of misses. 180 Hybrids out of my 284 would make a little dust cloud with a miss. As the wind was easing up I switched to my 6XC with 105 AMax bullets. First shot was a miss and kicked up dirt. Second shot hit near dead center.
When I was retrieving the steel, I took a closer look at the impact area. The 105 AMax miss was very apparent. And I had a real hard time finding the 180 Hybrid misses. Those bullets were drilling little tiny holes in the dirt. Like the box says, not recommended for hunting.

Nomad, He was shooting Prairie Dogs I believe. They don't require the energy transfer our big Groundhogs need to anchor them. If I'm incorrect please disregard this post! ???

Any bullet will kill with a properly placed shot. But most target bullets will pass straight thru small animals. I've seen it with three different Bergers and two different Hornadys. So if you don't hit a vital organ, the animal lives - at least for a while.

I'm NOT trying to preach on what bullet to use - just saying I was surprised at the choice of bullets. The 105 AMax although maybe not as accurate as the Hybrid is very devastating even on prairie dogs.

Luckily, it was a head shot so no expansion was needed.
Doc uses the 87 V-max to 1,000 and they anchor the dogs.
John Kruzan used the 105 A-max out of his Dasher and they
do a great job at 1,000 to 1200 yd. No crawl-offs with the
105 A-max.
Doc likes the accuracy of the Hybrid.
He got home early this morning and I'm sure he will chime in
and give us a details of the shot.
