VLD Chamfer Tool consensus

From my understanding the VLD chamfer tools are to help with seating BT bullets. Is there any other benefits? Or is it just another option for us to spend money? What's everyone's opinion and results regarding them versus the standard 45 degree?

I just use the old wilson rocketship. I have all the vld chamfer tools but they all seem way too sharp and cut too much. the best one is the K&M if you want a vld tool though.
Yes that, I should have added this to first post. I noticed that the VLD removes more brass and I'm not sure I like that.

In using a VLD chamfer tool you need a light touch as they are sharp, steep and aggressive.

They don’t hurt, but they don’t help either. A regular 45 degree chamfer is just as good.

You will find alot of differing opinions on this question as evidence above, my suggestion would be to try both and see which one you prefer. I have tested a number of different chamfer tools over the years and I prefer the 28 degreee vld hands down over the standard 45 degree.

Lol , you can make a very nice leather punch out of a piece of brass very fast... Especially with a case prep station like I use... It takes practice and a light touch...

+1. I use the K&M and it works very well. Has an adjustable stop built in to maintain excellent concentricity and depth of the chamfer cut on the case neck. Definitely my favorite chamfer tool.

Personally I think it's sales hype. When a case mouth is chamfered, it's normally just a few thousandths and really doesn't matter if the chamfer is 22, 45, or 60 degrees. I think that if one has to use enough chamfer for the angle to make a difference, the chamfer would be too deep. Many experienced reloaders just "break" the corner or deburr the case mouth...
