Vihtavouri/6 Dasher

Hey all, I just bought some Viht 135 and 550 for a 6mm Dasher, cuz NOBODY in Wisconsin has 140 or 540. Im too cheap to pay hazmat. My question is does anybody have any descent info on Dasher loads with either of these powders? I plan on shooting 95gr - 107gr bullets out of a 28" 8 twist krieger any starting places would be great or even experienced Dasher shooters opinions on these powders. THANKS!

Thanks D I have h4895,RL15 varget and a few others. I wanted to try some Viht too cuz I've never shot any and just want to make sure I find the best load available to me. The stores around here suck!! no 140 or 540 but I'll keep my eyes open. THANK YOU very much for the info.

N150 is my favorite with 105-107gr. bullets in my Dashers. It gives a little more velocity than Varget, fine accuracy, and burns very clean.

I have had good luck with N550, 28" barrel with 105-115 grain bullets. It will give you more velocity then Varget.

Check out my 6mmbrx project under the thread, John708's project has started. The 6mm dasher and 6mmbrx data is essentially identical. I have load data for VV540 and 550 with 105 Bergers in a 31.75 in barrel.

Gunamonth and john 708 thanks for the solid info I really appreciate it! 708 Ive read that thread and its very informative. Can anyone direct me to how I can obtain quickload? Do I need to buy it from somewhere or can it be downloaded? Thanks to everyone for the responses.

Donovan,

you mentioned N135 might be good powder for an 80gr bullet! I have just purchased some 83gr SP bullets from GS Custom Bullets in South Africa. Because of the design of the SP bullet a 'faster' burning powder was recommended. Since I have some N135 I thought I would give it a try in my DASHER. I have not heard back from Gerard so I guess I will start a 33.0 grains and work up in tenths.

If you have any suggestions/recommendations I would appreciate hearing them.

Take care! Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Thanks Donovan. I appreciate your feedback! My schedule is a little busy so probably will be next Tuesday or Wednesday till I get back out to the range. I will pack the PVM-21 and my laptop for the trip and hopefully will be able to gather some decent data.

Thanks again.

I must have been holding my mouth wrong!! These things were all over the place. I started at 33.0 and went to 34.2 grains of v-135. Even at 34.2 absolutely no signs of pressure. I will have to go back to the drawing board after Antelope season. Hopefully that will only take one or two days this week. :)
