Vihtavouri 140 for 22-250

Looking for information from anyone that has used Vihtavouri 140 in a 22-250, 52 Grain Barts bullet. Looking to shoot out to 300 yards. Anyone have experience with this powder in a similar load? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff,
I no longer have a 22-250, but when I did, I used Sierra 52's (HPBT) and 53's (FB's) with good success. As I recall, I referenced the Sierra Manual which gave me a range using VVN 140 of 32.4 gr (3300 fps) to 35.1 gr (3600 fps). Probably be a good idea to test a few of those Barts bullets (or try some Sierras for testing)and also look up the ranges of other bullet manufacturers to see what they suggest. Hornady Manual shows 31.4 gr - 35.7 gr for their 52-53gr bullets using VVN140. Unfortunately, the VV Manual lists loads for a 22-250 but not for 52/53 gr bullets. Just info that may be of some use to you.

I've shot lots of VVN 150 in my 22 250's for about 20 years back before I discovered 22BR. I think it is one of the most under rated powders for that caliber for the 52-55gr bullet weights and I was able to get very tight nice consistent groups out of it. I shot it in an older Savage model 110V with a 26 inch barrel. I've never shot VVN 140 but it may well do a good job in shorter barrels. JMHO

N 140 + 50 gr = benchrest accuracy at 100 out of 22-250

35 gr n150& 52gr Berger or Bart's works good- max load reduce to start

I started using N140 in my .22-250 40X about a decade ago. I'm using Nosler 55gr. ballistic tips in a 28" barrel with a 14 twist. I tinkered with the load when I first started using it and ended up getting 3745 fps with 1/4" groups consistently at 100 yards. It won't win any BR matches but will kill sod poodles and prairie dogs out to 500yds with no problem.
