viht 140 & viht 160 ? 243

Hi there again guys , follow up to my last thread .


65 gr q 75 gr vmax , which out of the above powders would suit best for each pill ??

I think I'll be sticking with 75 vmax

If it were mine, I'd put my money on the Viht140 unless the rifle has a 26 inches or longer barrel for the 75gr and the lighter bullets.

The 160 might be worth a try if you are curious. Let us know how it turns out for ya. WD

I tried 160 in my 243 win because it works so well in my 6mmAI.
In my 243 in was just not as accurate as IMR 4350. 160 is very clean burning though.
I love those 75 grain Vmax's.... they will really bust up a groundhog or fox!

X2 on the IMR 4350.. Great powder in the 243 with a 95 Nosler partition. . My CZ likes H4831 with the 75 Vmax.

Been shooting and reloading for the 243 since the late 60's and I never found anything that works better than IMR 4350 for bullet 85 grain and heavier and IMR 4064 for bullets under 85 grains.

One the most accurate and lethal bullets I've ever used in the 243 is the Sierra 85 grain BTHP.

One the best strictly varmint bullets I've used is the 80 Sierra Blitz with IMR 4064.
