Vias Breaks

Sadly, no. He had allergies when in Houston and then here in the Boise area. He sold the business, and then moved back to Greece. The gentleman who bought George out died, and nobody picked up on the design.
I wish he were still around, I'd buy 4 of them.

BTW: it spelled VAIS.

Harrells brakes are very similar, and way cheaper than what Vais used to charge.
I had/have a couple Vais, they work, I havent tried a Harrells though so cannot comment
Their design looks very similar though, even adjustable tuner brakes now

Tucker65, LOOK!! Please.

I am very interested in a couple. Check your PM's.

thanks,

Before the current owner died, the facility was direct hi by a tornado that destroyed the equipment. That and the owner illness was to much.

ELR & Mike Mc,

and anyone else who is interested. There is a reason the Vais brake is the only one I know of that was issued a US Patent over design features.

I watched George test his system actually shooting his brake with a 36" square sheet of white cardstock with 1" grids, like graph paper to the direct side so that muzzle rise could be measured in those increments. He also had someone with a decibel meter measure the blast at side and front to determine how much it cut sound level VS unbraked on several different rifles. IIRC, that data was included in the patent application documents.

My next move is to convince Tucker65 to make me about four of them. One in 1.25" x 3" for my Banshee.

I knew George briefly while he was in Prescott. He didn't stay long, the allergies really affected him.

I did work with the gentleman in Texas until his untimely demise. He had a younger man actually making the brakes while he pursued other devices. I could call and order with him on the phone. I probably used a couple of hundred of this design before the business closed.

It was too bad really, they were very popular.
