Very Interesting

Just bought a new Chucker Supreme off Ebay. They state it is NEW, and never used, but the original box is missing. ?? Ok, and then it hits me the rebate requires the UPC codes from the box..of course. So this company, not an individual, sends in my UPC codes and a fake cash register or invoice from themselves to a fake person at some address, pockets the bullets (rebate) and then sells them at a huge mark up via Ebay again or their storefront. Very Interesting what people will do to make a buck right about now.

I don't see the problem. They stated that it is new, never used and does not include the original box. Does it appear to be unused? Did you pay full price? If they misrepresented the item..... file a claim with Ebay and give them negative feedback.

Just what is your complaint? If it was a "huge mark-up", you bid on it, why did you pay a "huge mark-up". But actually, $145 + shipping is not a "huge mark-up" it is the going price. There are other dealers selling it for the same price, WITH the box.

So you made a mistake, and lost out. You got what they advertised, so you can't return it.

Sounds like you didn't do your homework, and are now bitter cuz you got exactly what they were selling.

Live with it, and don't let it spoil your pleasure using it.

The OP bough what he bid on, likely at a reduced rate, then made an assumption, and is now pissed off at his own assumption.

Very interesting what people will do to feel like a victim right about now.

It's a shame but yes, you do have to carefully scrutinize the fine print on e-Bay and other online ads.

I have heard of several businesses doing a similar thing when a company offers up a consumer rebate but does not give the retailer a compensation at the same time. Borderline shady in my opinion.

Not "Shady". Not someone that I would buy from, but they were right up front about it, no hidden messages.

The world is a place for grown-ups.

The OP didn't buy carefully.

I know what I did, and now I know to do better. Appreciate all the comments, except maybe a few that got a bit personal, but hey. I'm a retired Federal agent and have been accused of everything known to man at one time or another. My main comment was not about what I did wrong, but the unethical status of the seller in keeping the UPC codes for themselves. I have recieved an email from the seller who stated that the press was a portion of the original KIT deal and that the UPC was worth 50.00 cash or 500 bullets in rebate to them. I agree that they were selling the press to me, and I should have done my due diligence before committing to the purchase. Oh, and Erik, I do not feel like a victim at all. But thanks for the comment.

Caveat Emptor. Always. People are no more/less ethical or unethical than in years, decades, and centuries past. If you make assumptions about the value of a deal, then that's 100% on you.

Compared to buying a car or a house, the shooting sports are a bastion of ethical conduct and comportment.

To suggest that this transaction is somehow indicative of a particularly egregious current state of affairs (whether in the US or the world) is disingenuous.

Compared to what happens in the political realm, these transactions are squeaky clean; after all, you have a choice.

I still don't see what is unethical. They bought a kit, kept what they wanted, sold the apart that they didn't want.

They were up front and CLEARLY TOLD YOU that you were not getting a box...

... and you are mad because you didn't get the box??

Please tell me, what am I missing in this?

You know something, this is really a sad show on some peoples parts. NO where in this post will you find the words "I'm mad".

What you did see here is a commentary on how businesses, (Not an individual by the way) conduct their business in pursuit of the almighty dollar. I was not making a comment on the sorry state of the union, or economics in general. In my former life I was a darn good Investigator for the Government of ours. I was simply pointing out what I deduced from the sale and why it was what it was. At no time in my original post did I complain about the sale or the press or anything. What some of you saw was not what I said though. This is a worthless post, so let's move on.

I completely undersand your post and appreciate where it came from. It will help me keep from making the same error. Gonna purchase a new press for my shop and sure do not want to lose out on any free bullets. THANKS
