Very bad news for bullet manufacturers

http://gunssavelives.net/news/last-u-s-lead-smelter-to-close-in-december-due-to-epa-might-affect-ammo-production/#

No good can come from this.

Some democrats crossed party lines to vote down the last gun control measure, so they aren't all bad. Some that claim to be republicans crossed lines to vote in favor

I would bet that most of the lead in the US today is from foreign sources as most of the smelters quit after lead was banned from paint and unleaded gasoline was mandated.

This doesn't really matter if the lead-free bullet agenda spreads like the lead free shot did for waterfowl and it would be no surprise if most of the lead in the US today comes from China

Direct result of voting for Democrats. How anybody, anywhere could vote for any Democrate is beyond me.

Just to clarify, those lead emission rules were adopted in 2008 - during the Bush administration.

Yep, Senate and house controlled by Dems (libtards).

Johnu, you should probably look into how our representative form of government works. The legislature passes pieces of legislation, the executive signs it into law. Not that I think there is a vast difference between Republicans and Democrats on the national level. More of a two heads on the same monster situation. I see myself as more aligned with the Constitutional Libertarians, which both of the current parties in power abhor.

NWnewguy, I'm sufficiently familiar with how it works having worked in both legislative and executive branches of government. And as for "libtards" shutting down the plant in Missouri, the Republicans held a majority in the House for more than a decade prior to the the 2008 adoption of the regulations.

The closure of this facility will have little impact on the shooting sports. Bullet manufacturing does not require pure or virgin lead, and there is plently of lead available from recycled sources. As for the issue of the domestic production of strategic materials, the future sources of rare earth materials concerns me more.

The EPA can still kissn my @$$!!!

I'm not here to say that the EPA does everything right, no government agency does. You might feel differently if you lived near one of the pre-EPA coal fired electric plants or drew your drinking water down stream from factories that used to dump thousands of gallons of liquid whatever into the river. Lead is bad stuff when it's improperly handled or stored. I'm curious to hear what the people living near the plant in MO think.

Mother Earth, the only one we have and we better take better care of her.

The problem with mother earth is other country's have no epa.It is really up to the bean counters and shareholders unfortunately.

Don't believe everything you read. Scrutinize [examine in detail with careful or critical attention] your sources.
