Venison stew...

Yep, fairly close to the recipe that my mom and wife used except they cooked in a crock pot. Yummy!

My wife did this same recipe with Beef Cheeks recently, damn were those good.

And she used it on boneless beef shanks as well. A friend got an Elk in NorCal a couple days ago, the lucky guy...he had a few friends to help him pack it out.

I get the Beef Cheeks at the local Mexican meat market (Canrniceria), same place I can get sweetbreads (Mollejas). I was expecting the cheeks (Cachetes) to be lean, but they were much more fatty than I expected...good stuff...I'm going for some feral hogs soon...for lack of a better analogy, I'll need to root 'em out! LOL

I usually make a big pot or two every year myself. Took it to moose camp last year, after a few bites the compliments started rolling - told the guys it was coyote. A couple of the guys had never met me before, they thought I was serious, you should've seen the look on their faces!
