I have been looking for an excellent-quality, well-reviewed, portable laser range finder (PLRF) with rated capability beyond 2000 yards. I settled on a Vectronix Terrapin, which is rated for 2400 meters (2625 yards) - specs at http://www.vectronix.us/#/us/products/handhelds/small_lightweight/terrapin_-_outstanding_range_performance (wait a few seconds for all the levels to load; brochure link in the lower right). I then set out to find a decent price. MANY resellers later I was getting the feeling tha Vectronix had the reseller price locked at $1995. Fortunately I then ran across a forum post (not on LRH) that mentioned a primarily government-only reseller, Potomac River Group/PRG Defense (http://www.prgdefense.com/products/terrapin.aspx). They have Terrapins in stock at $1825 plus $20 for shipping. I ordered mine this morning and thought I'd pass along the info for others that might be in a similar situation.
