Varying neck tension?

I have a .20 Practical and I notice when I seat bullets using WW brass, it takes different force from case to case to seat the bullet. Some enter the case with very little resistence and some with quite alot of resistence. I have shot some very good groups but too many of the groups seem to have fliers. I use a bushing die for my resizing. Any thoughts on how I can cure this. It's been bugging me for a while. Thanks John.

Bushing dies are meant to be used with sorted necks or turned necks. The expander ball is supplied with the dies for using commercial brass as is.

I do not use an expander ball during the sizing operation and I neck turn to "clean up" the brass hoping to get more uniformity. I have no way of actually measuring case neck thickness as I don't have a ball type micrometer. Thanks, John.

Yes. I'd recommend you go w/ a
" bushing neck size/shoulder bump " die.

I shot a .24" calibre wildcat, that with one bushing would not even put bullets onto paper @ 100.
I tried a .001" " tighter " neck bushing, and groups went right into the mid .2s !

I tried two eventighter bushings, but no dice. The best groups came from loads made using that first .001" tighter neck bushing

My point:
From disaster to success, was only a scant .001" difference in neck bushing diam !

I also will recommend Lonnie Hummeel's
, Hornady Custom die Dept ) shoulder bump/bushing neck sixe die
These can accept Wislon-style bushings.

Best of luck in your endeavors.
