Don't know how many of you are aware, but Terry Balding has revived the multi-distance balloon shoot characteristic of the Varmint Hunter's Jamboree. It's been great fun for the last two years and is coming up again July 18 & 19 (sight in Friday the 17th - no sighters on match days). Balloons are set up at three distances (4 at 310 yards, 5 at 440 yards and 5 at 540 yards) and you get 17 rounds on the bench to break your 14 balloons. In spite of the size of the balloons (4" diameter) it can be very challenging to hit them at the longer distances when there is much wind.
There are two matches on Saturday (factory rifle and custom rifle) and two more of the same on Sunday. Entry fee is $25 per match. Winners receive cash prizes (out to fifth place I believe) and a certificate. Matches are held at the Columbus Sportsman's Association in Columbus, Wisconsin.
