Does anyone here shoot this match? I attended the western pa groundhog championship last year and had a great time. How does this match compare? Also what kind of targets do they use and how are they scored? Any info is appreciated thank you!!!!
It's a pretty good time, Targets are fun and tough, I forget what they shoot at a 100, but Crows at 300 and their regular target with scoring rings at 400. I haven't gone in a couple years, you'll need to be a member of the Varmint Hunters Association to participate. They also hold a regular match the day after so it makes for a good weekend of shooting
here is a link for the varmint match rules. the day AFTER the varmint match there will be a groundhog match.....here is a link to the groundhog match rules http://southforkrifleclub.homestead.com/2014_Hog_Rules.mht
The targets at 300 are 3 different crows with a white one inch diameter circle. If you miss the white circle and hit the black you cannot see your hit. You shoot 2 at each crow target. The white circle has a tiny black dot in the center. I always thought the 300 target makes or breaks the shooter chances. A good time!
As Frank said the 300 yard crow target makes or breaks you. It kicks my but every time but it is a lot of fun. I will be there and I am staying for the Sunday shoot also.
A really fun shoot to do, I have gone to every one since they began but cannot make it this year due to a conflict with other to do things. Going to miss it. If you can go, by all means go, you are sure to enjoy.
