Varmint Hunt Trip Options in WY or CO?

Anyone varmint hunt Thunder Basin National Grassland in Wyoming or Pawnee National Grassland in Colorado?

I don’t but know people that do. Coyotes there were pretty call shy. And educated last time I was there.

I shot prairie dogs in Thunder Basin about 40 years ago. Camped out on government land, was visited by ranchers who were running cattle there, wanting to know why we were there, etc. We had to explain that we had a right to be there, and that we would not shoot anywhere near their cattle. Hunting was just OK. I suppose lots has changed since that time, perhaps even the hunting rules Good luck with your hunt.

I have talked to a couple of new club members that were happy to have a safer place to shoot than the Pawnee Grasslands. Might want to contact the land management rangers for advice.

Pawnee is very overshot with every city boy n his sister hitting the area.
Coyotes are there but way over called n shot at by just about anyone that sees one. They run from any rabbit sound or vehicle sound.
Best to knock on ranchers doors for permissions, many will say go get em but some ruin it for others.
Thunder basin gets hit as bad for pdogs n coyote.
All my spots are private, best to knock on doors no matter the area for best results.
All blm, state land will have shooters so plan on that.

BLM and/or Wildlife departments in those state/areas would have information on the areas you are considering.
