While this statement is sure to not gain me any fans, I wouldn't use a 243 for deer period, I'd rather have a 223. But out of the 3 , the 308 is hands down the most versatile. And yes, I have seen dozens of deer shot with a 243 & some with my smoking handloads & still fail to be impressed. The only bullet that shows anything in the 24's is a Barnes 85gr TSX. Everything else = long tracks & little blood. Yes, they kill deer but so will a 22lr.
