Was looking in Murdcks this week its here in Livingston, Mt. and is like a farm supply and a gun department added on the back f the store. Was shocked to see 8 LB. jug f Varget for $420. First I've seen a jug 0f that in a long time. This young grizzly was chasing my wife back into the car in YNP and 2 more following it. The pic is 0ut the windshield 0f the car. Yu never saw a 75 year 0ld granny run s0 fast in your life when she saw it charge her. We stopped by Yellowstone Lake t0 take a few pic's and without any warning these bears came charging 0ut f n0 where from the brush along side the r0ad. Made f0r a very exciting day. After it was all 0ver we fund 0ut there was a dead elk laying of the side of the road and when we st0pped we didn't kn0w about they came charging we see a lot 0f griz each year living 56 miles n0rth of YNP.

Picked up a coupe of 8.8# jugs of Varget from Powder Valley just before the fire. Wonder if it the cause of the fire was friction from powder leaving so fast. Size of the 8.8s is bigger enough they barely fit on the shelves in the loading room. Whatta Hobby!

Hi,
First Post, from OZ.
Those prices are unbelievable.
Over here we pay abt $145 aud for 1kg for the more common powders like ar2208 (varget) (2lb 3oz) Although some of the less common powders are still,,, say $195aud 1kg.

But can't really get any primers under about $190aud for 1k. Last year, nothing under about $250aud

That’s a pretty close encounter with that bear Lee. Great pic!

Son was bowhunting this week. Stopped to take a dump and saw a dark object walking in front of him. He thought it was just another head of cattle. Wrong! Black bear less than 10 feet away and his pants down around his ankles!! It just kept on walking by...

Apples to oranges... 1kg =2.2 lbs, & $1 US =c.$1.50 AU.

You do the math. I'm still on the 1st cup of coffee.

If my math is correct?????
An 8.8 pound jug of powder is about 4 kg???
At $145 kg that is $580 AUD per 8.8 pound jug?
With the current exchange rate of 1 US to 1.52 AUD, you are paying $381.57 USD per jug?

Yes Hodgdon owns the whole world of powder distribution now. Their prices have more than doubled since 2022. Same but worse with the Primer manufacturers. I'm glad I have good stash.

So we know what your boy does in the woods, but the question about bears in the woods still remains..

I bet constipation was Not a problem….
At least his pants were down, otherwise he would need a change….! :p

NSWRA store lists 4kg jugs of AR2208 = 8.8 lb Varget for Au $445 which the current exchange rate says is US $291.78..
Apples for apples and oranges for oranges means that $445 out of pocket is just the same impact for the purchaser…
The US buyer is paying less out of pocket than folks that live in the country where it is made…. Primers are right in the $200 per thousand… White River, RWS a bit more, Remington and NO CCI… Perhaps mid October for next CCI shipment…
At least in the USA you can have powder and primers shipped to your door…
You must personally pick up powder, primers and ammo, have to present your Shooter’s Licence…
Just picked up two cases of SK Long Range Match for the club at $1495 a case!
Had to drive an extra 3 hour loop to the only store that had them {in the next state}… Turned a 4:30 trip to my son’s house into a 7;30 trip back home…!
