V4 AutoTrickler- Throwing Heavy?.

Guys, I got my V4 yesterday, assembled everything, ran the calibration (a couple of times), it drops heavy every time and never drops the same. I was trying to drop 33.2 g Varget, it drops 38-40g, never consistent, I tried to re-calibrate, tried tilting up & down. Not sure what to try next, any help is appreciated, Gary

As mentioned above, Id start by checking the scale response and make sure it is set on fast. Id also open up the settings in the app and try setting the course to fine trickle to start sooner. For some reason on H4350 my v4 was overshooting somewhat regularly. I set the transition as far from the set point as it would go (3 grains I think) and now I only get one or two overshoots out of 100. It doesn't happen with any other powder either.

Thanks guys, I am going back out and try again, I got frustrated last evening. I know it is something simple, I did/ have not checked the response setting. I do like that it is super quiet, also is the reason I am not seeing the ”Green” light is because it is always dropping over my set weight?

Green light will come on at target weight or + or - .02 gr.

@Ga-Bulldog: mine is more consistent when there is a good bit of powder in the removable hopper. Getting the calibration right as described on page 14 is important. Also make sure the top is level and the V4 is sitting correctly on all three of the stick-on feet.

Sounds like the scale settings are wrong or didn’t take, but that is a guess.

I would go back through the whole set-up very carefully and if that raises a question come back and seek help.

It has to be your scale set up - there are a few things that need to be configured if you didnt already do it on a V3 or didnt buy the scale and trickler from Cambridge Electronics.

43g of Varget takes me anywhere between 12-15 seconds at the +/- .02. Every so often one charge takes a little longer due to how charged (or uncharged) the small tube is. I just got mine too and was testing and not doing a full loading session, so I think the slower throws would go away on a longer session where the small tube is adequately charged.

It took only one calibration (make sure the hopper is full) and got the following settings:

Large Tube 15.8
Small Tube .16

Large Tube 5
Transition Weight 2.19
Small Tube 5

May need to set your scale so that it is tilted back just a little. That will make a big difference.

Thanks guys, a friend on here saw my post, called and had a novel idea. READ the stinking directions. I found it is very important to not miss one of the “Serial Port Configuration” steps!!!! Now it works perfectly, drops the weight exactly as programmed. I would like to change the ratio of large tube and small tube. I’m sure it’s in the book??? Thanks guys for the help, GO DAWGS

Transition weight in the advanced settings controls when it switches to the small tube
