V V N 135 in a 223 ?

Has anyone tried / use N-135 in either an AR or "bolt gun"

Never tried it...no reason it shouldn't work...close to burn rate of other

good 223 powders.......IMR8208...IMR4895...H4895

Plus it seems its available online now...along with V133

I've used it in a .223 and a .223AI. Good powder for both of those cartridges.

Oh yes, I did in Europe this powder is very common for .223 calibre, I have used N135 for gas and bolt guns with several different bullets from 52 to 80 grains. My go to load with lighter bullets in a gas rifle (52-55) is 23,5 grains. With my Tikka Sporter I use heavier bullets (Berger FB 80,5 grs) with 21,5 grs of powder.

I've used it with good results in one of my calling AR's. Accuracy with the 50 grain Speer TNT averaged 0.75" at 100 yards and it cycled without any problems.

Both VV133 and 135 work very well in 223/223AI. In a couple std. 223's, most accurate for me with 50's is VV133. With 55's the most accurate is VV135. One thing, that VV135/55gr. load is extremely compressed and up near the casemouth, with over 3600 velocity. And no.....the gun doesn't blow up, bolt doesn't lock up, primers don't blow, primer pockets are still tight. I was told how to get 3600 in the 223 with a 55 and worked up slowly. Others have achieved the same results. Rem. 700, 26" Shilen, 14 twist, minimum chamber, IMI brass, 7-1/2 primer.

As most of the other guys have indicated, N135 works well in the 223, especially for the mid-weight bullets of 50-55 grains. Stepping up to the heavier bullets, as you mentioned, you would be better served by a slightly slower powder such as N540 or N140. I'd suggest sticking to the mid weights with the N135, and dropping down to a slower powder for the 69s you mentioned.

N135 is the mack daddy in the 223 bolt gun with unbelievable velocities as you push it. Best accuracy is right at a max load for that particular rifle or very near it and I shoot the nosler 55g Ballistic tips in a Rem 700 223 SPS stainless, shoots tiny groups with IMI brass and thick cup primers such as the Rem 7 1/2 and the CCI BR-4's.

I will not use Federal brass, soft.

Good to know 135 works well. I don't use a lot of it, but now might get an 8lb jug.

N133 is my go to .223 powder. Accuracy is the best of any powder I have ever tried.
