v-blocks

what mfg's of stocks offer a v-block option? i poked around the net a little bit and didn't have luck finding many stockmakers that offer a v-block option. at least not as far as their websites were concerned. i see that mastin stocks offer that option but 1000 for a stock is out of my financial reach. thanks in advance for the help.

If you have a Remington 700, John Whidden sells the V-block.

I've had two of my McM /Rem700 rifles fitted with the Whidden block. I think it's a great product, but be aware of the following issues I ran into.

1. The mag well will need to be enlarged if you use anything other than standard BDL bottom metal. My HS-Precision trigger guard would not fit without machining.
2. Have you gunsmith pay special attention to the magazine height. After the initial install, my bolt would ride right over the top of the cartridge without stripping it from the magazine. I sent it back and asked him to shorten the pillars and get the magazine higher.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is a great idea. Just be aware of some of the fitting issues that may need to be addressed.

Another option is the Manners "mini-chass" which combines the trigger guard with a V-block. This uses AICs magazines and is perhaps the best option with that mag: http://mannersstocks.com/mcs-dbm.html
