Using My New Suppressor

Here’s my situation, I’ve got a Savage in 6.5CM with good dope out to 525yrds. I just got word that my TBAC suppressor paperwork is done and I can pick it up. I leave for a hunting trip next month and the question is can I trust the dope. I know my POI will change slightly and I should rezero the rifle. My range only shoots out to 300 yards so that’s the farthest I could test. Can I feel confident on a 400ish yard shot or should I leave the suppressor at home until I can get good dope? BTW, 9 months from check cashed to suppressor pick up, better than I thought.

Sight in at 100 (minimum) After that, you've got good dope. Cans change point of impact cuz of extra weight on the muzzle. After that, your bullet will track same as always, except posibly for slight velocity increases due to extra back pressure.

If you can sight at 300, you should have no problem whatsoever.

Yup, do a 200 zero and if any misjudgments of range around 300, 400 etc won't be quite as negative. But that is a personal choice.

If it groups good at 300, re zero and run it. It’s not always the case that it won’t affect group size.

Happy to report zero POI shift with the TBAC suppressor. Tested at 100 and 300. What a joy to shoot.

The paperwork for my suppressor was filed December 28th and I still haven’t heard from my vendor. When did you buy yours? Just wondering how much longer I have to wait.

Feds cashed my check early Jan so I’d say I sent mine in about the same time as you. Shouldn’t be long I wouldn’t think. Good luck.

The biggest mistake you made, is the same one I made. I should have ordered 3 at the same time to suit my needs, two center fires and one rim fire.

Yeah, you’re right. That’s been pointed out to me a bunch. I delayed because I thought we were going to benefit from the “Hearing Conservation Act” law that would deregulate suppressors, but.....

Conversation with my local vendor yesterday. Lead time varies greatly - around 9 months right now but plus or minus a lot. One super lucky person had theirs in 2 months and a couple weeks - an unlucky one waited 15 months.

Based on the way the forms are handled and processed, there is not a consistent lead time.
