Using Lucas Bore Guide

This may the most elementary question ever posted, so please bear with me. I took people's advice and ordered, and received) a Lucas Boreguide for an AR15 in .223. I have never used a bore guide on anything, having only a Ruger 10/22 that used a bore snake type device). So, not sure how exactly how to properly make use of the Lucas guide.

It looks to me that the Lucas insert may stay on my Tipton cleaning rod, since this rod is just for this rifle. I am guessing I fit the guide to the gun, sealing it with the chamber. Then push the rod with patch or brush part part way into the boreguide until the patch or brush is seen in the port, apply solvent and push into the bore, and then be sure the insert is fully into the guide before the rod comes out the other end of the boreguide. ???

Maybe i'm doing it wrong, But this is How i use mine/
Insert bore guide into chamber,Put insert on rod.
Insert ron into guide.
Apply solvent to patch or brush and push until the end of the rod is past the chamber.
Put insert to the end of Guide and push rod in .{this keeps the rod straigt until it start to enter the guide. then push the rest of the way until the insert goes into the guide.
It's supposed to keep the rod straight and prevent the rod from bowing.
I usually don't pull the patch or brush back thru. I let the patch fall of.
I take the brush off also. {why drag back dirt into the barrel, chamber area.

Phil3, why not go strait back to lucasmjb@windstream.net and i will explain it to you. Thanks for asking.
