Using Case Pro 100 on rifle cases, ie 308 and .223

I have and use a Case Pro 100 role sizer. I bought it to get the bulges out of .380, 9mm, 40 caliber and 45. Mike Flurry has made a very good product for reconditioning pistol calibers. Last year I had him make me dies for a 223. and 308. It is amazing how well it also get the bulge out of the rifle cases. Thanks Mike Flurry for such a great product.

Here is a web site for Case Pro:

http://casepro100.com/

When you use it for rifle cases you remove the pistol case fee tube assembly and feed them one at a time by hand. It only sizes the head end of the case. Example: .Virgin 308 Lapua Brass is .466" at the web or .200" line. Most chambers are cut .468-.472 in the web. After you fire a round it expands to the chamber wall and usually shrinks back about .001" -.002" smaller than the chamber wall. This leaves a swelled area in the web of the case. Most dies will size the brass back enough for it to be reloaded in the original rifle. Some shooter with tight chambers have to use what is call Small Base dies. Small base dies are usually .002" tighter than normal dies in the web area. Often when used they score the brass where they size it back to .466" The Case Pro 100 is a roll sizer and it only resizes the head and web area of the case. It restores the case without scoring. Every chamber is slightly different even if cut with the same reamer. I tell all my customers with a new barrel to start off with new brass. If the new chamber is tighter than the old chamber the regular dies will not completely size the fire formed brass and the cases will stick in the web area many times. Yesterday, I fired brass in a factory chamber and the fired brass was .471" in the web. I resized it in Redding competition dies. After resizing the web was .468. I then roll sized the brass in my case pro roll sizer and the brass was restored to .466"
I hope this link listed above and my follow up will clear up any questions you have.
