Using a 7mm STW to Compete?

I am thinking of starting to shoot F-Class. I have a Remington 700 7mm STW Heavy Barrel. I have many questions though. Let's assume that the person pulling the trigger can do his job. What are the limitations to this rifle? What needs to be modified other than the trigger? Do I need a new action? If I need a new action, I assume I would be better off building a custom rifle. Is the 7mm STW accurate enough to win at a national level?

I have a STW and it does shoot like a hammer. I do not remember how many shots I had down the first tube before I had to get a new one. I do know it was less than 500. I am happy with mine but tube life is not what I want in a rifle. It will shoot point of aim out to almost 400 yds with a 300yd zero.

I got lucky I zero at 300 and at 9x on my scope the bottom part of the duplex is my 550yd zero.

It is a great hunting round but I do not see much use for it on the range.

Besdies the barrel life, here is something else to consider..Shooting from prone is different than shooting off the bench. With the STW you can move a 180 vld at around 3250-3300 fps with a heavy load....The recoil is going to be around 19-20lbs. You'll be burning between 90-100 grs of powder to produce this. A straight 284 or 284 shehane will move the same bullet at 2875 to 2950 burning about 1/2 the powder, have Laupa brass available ,and do so with right at 13lbs of recoil...more importantly, is the recoil velocity of the gun...the 7 STW will beat you to death from the ground..hell, I don't like shooting it from the bench!! There are better rounds out there...
