Using 6ppc Norma Brass in Lapua chamber.

I have a .262 6ppc chambered to use Lapua 220 fireformed brass.

I bought some Norma 6ppc brass and from what I can tell, the major difference seems to be that the brass is .01 onger than the brass from my chamber and the shoulder on the Norma is set back -.007 from my fires brass.

What steps should I taken to prep the Norma brass?

I am thinking
1: full length form
2: turn necks
3: trim to length of my fired brass.
4: load and shoot
5: anneal
6: load and soot
7: retrain as needed.

I know I may have this all wrong. Telling me so will not hurt my feelings.

Unless specified differently, the common max case lengths of PPC chambers are 1.515 or 1.525 (JGS). When Lapua cases are fire formed, the cases become shorter, and it is common, for both chamber lengths to trim to 1.490 so that the shortest will clean up. This would account for the difference in length between your fired cases and the Norma cases. I have used Norma brass and when I did I found that it was about .005 shorter in "headspace" than my fired brass. If I remember correctly I trimmed the new Norma cases, turned them, loaded and fired them. There were no issues. This was for a .262 neck chamber.

Thanks Boyd. Do you remember what you trimmed the Norma brass to. I am thinking that with the Norma being shorter head spaced, if I trim to 1.490 like my Lapua, the Norma will turn out shorter.

If you trim to 490 they will end up being short im afraid. Ive been thru this the one time i tried that brass but cant remember. I believe i fired them with bullseye and a paper towel just to get them where i could see what i had. If im remembering right i trimmed one to 1.490 and it ended up too short for my likings
