Using 17 and 20 cal brushes with a Lyman case prep station

The case prep station works fine but will not accept 17 or 20 cal cleaning brushes since the usual subcal brushes don't use the standard 8-32 thread. I'd like to clean the inside neck of my brass. It there such a thing as subcaliber brushes with 8-32 threads or maybe an adapter?

Appreciate the help

Tom

I doubt you will find a .17 or .20 cal brush with those threads unless Lyman makes them for their machine. But - if you type in "8/32" thread adapters" into your search engine - you will see there are many such adapters for sale. Look up "bullseyenorth.com" and on amazon. They have what you want.

I’ve done that web search already (hopefully I’m not completely stupid). Lots of results pop up but none will accomplish what I’m trying to do. All I’ve seen are adapters which allow 8-32 brushes to be used on a 17 caliber rod. Essentially I’m needing to do the opposite.

Had a similar dilemma as yours. I ended up soldering the 8-32 to the 17. Not for bores of course.

Cool! Man I looked over their site and didn’t see it. Any chance you can post a link?
Tommy, go to the Midway USA website and type Cleaning Rod Adapters in the search box. About 20 items, maybe they will have what you need. Good luck.

Tommie- buy yourself a 5-40 tap on Amazon- make your own- that’s what I did .. few yrs back…
I took a old wore out 22 cal brass brush- soldered it up on the crimp/ knurl then cut off drill & tap

Yep starting to think something like that’s gonna have to be the solution.
