Uses for a turret press?

Hey guys,

I've been loading for awhile on a Lee Deluxe Turret for my pistol rounds, plinking .223, etc. Recently picked up a Lee Classic Turret to replace it, because I like the primer disposal better and the availability of aftermarket goodies. I have the Inline Fab tray mount, reverse index bar, case kicker, etc. I have a Lee Classic Cast single stage to handle my precision rifle rounds in .308 and .223, and hopefully soon 6.5 Creedmoor.

With that being said, I've recently upgraded to a Hornady LnL AP. I'm set up to load all my pistol calibers, with shell plates, ptx expanders, bullet feeder dies, mini mr bullet feeder tubes, ptx stop bars for each caliber, and soon to add a 3d printed case feeder to the mix. Now that I've got the Hornady up and running, I'm struggling to find a reason to keep the turret press on the bench.

What am I missing? I can't think of anything I would need the turret for that I couldnt do on the LnL. Looking for ideas to use the turret instead of getting rid of it. I hate getting rid of things, lol. Especially since I got the classic turret just a couple of months before I picked up the LnL.

Leave it set up for a dedicated pistol round or 223. It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

I did consider setting it up for .38spl since I load .357 mag on the Hornady. I've got separate dies and everything. I would just need another lower CAPD assembly to use my hornady powder measure because I'm sick of the Lee stuff leaking.

I use my 4 hole turret for everything but serious case forming.
380 Auto through 338 Win Mag.
And i load my match rounds on it too.

I relate it to, do you use a different car for different roads? Sure some handle better, some give a smoother ride, but they all work.
And if it works, don't fix it! o_O

I only use my truck for hauling heavy/bulky things or where there is no road. :D

Swap it off for a good single stage if you don’t have one. I am always tinkering with something and a singles stage works well to make a few to several dozen.

I set up my Hornady progressives at times as a progressive turret. The Hornady does things that others did but was a pita, depends on the situation.

For me, it might come down to how often I changed over. The Lee takes, what, less than a minute including primer size change? I don't presently load large batches and I do use maybe up to 3 different turret plates in a loading session.

If changover time/cost isn't an issue, your progressive is probably the better choice.

Screw a universal decapping die in it and a hornady collet bullet puller if nothing else.. i like the priming system of the 4hole classic turret press and use it for priming as well.. use to do everything with it but went to a coax a couple years ago for sizing and loading center fire rifle cartridges..
