Used Sightron 10-50??????

I am see several used Sightron 10-50. Are then not all they are cracked up to be? Thought they were the "best buy" in high power scopes. I was ready to buy one but am having second thoughts. Has anybody compared them to the Sightron BigSky 36X?

The big S3 sightron's are as good as it gets, I've shot one on a heavy 284 for years without a problem.
The only second thoughts you should have are, why didn't I buy one sooner !!!!

I bought one in january used it at a match, the following week sold my other high end scope and bought another sightron. HIGHLY recommend . Joey

I had a 10-50 lrmoa for sale on here because it had 1/4 clicks. Traded it for a 10-50 with 1/8th clicks. No issues with either. The glass is better than my Nightforce benchrest and has allot more eye relief.

My faith is renewed. Thank you.

I find my 36X Big Sky Sightron to be extremely critical as to eye relief and eye position. Can I expect the 10-50 III to be less critical?

Good Afternoon,

Great scopes, and definitely best bang for the buck. I sold mine and used the cash for a down payment on a Nightforce Competition. There are quite a few Nightforce BR and NXS scopes for sale too, and I'm thinking for the same reason.

We own four Sightron SIII, best scope for the money by far, all are 8x32.

Are any of the 8x32 Sightrons made with 1/8 clicks? I see one advertised on Amazon with 1/8 clicks, but nowhere else, which makes me wonder if it's an error.

I've sold numerous SIII's, but only because I was generating cash for other projects or toys. They are the best high-end scope for the money in my opinion. Not knocking any other scopes(and I've owned some of them), but they're not worth the additional cost in my opinion. Probably gonna be listing a few more because daddy needs a new Harley.

I own two Sightron 10 x 50 SIII scopes, two Sightron 8 x 32 SIII scopes, have owned two 6 x 24 Big Sky scopes, and own a 3.5 x 10 x 44IR SIII with Target Knobs from their custom shop. I own multiple Night Force Scopes, Lepould, Scopes, Unertel scopes along with others. As far as clarity and tracking I have no complaints with the Sightrons. As far as durability I would pick the Night Force. I eat breakfast with Allen Orr who works for Sightron and see what he gets to play with Sightron and others. For the money Sightron is a good option.

I was talking with Allen yesterday and he had a customer call in complaining about a Sightron 10 x 50 not having enough windage at 1000 yards. The customer said his scope ran out at 24 moa and he still could not keep his shots on the target. I talked with one of my customers who shot in the same match (may have actually won it). He said the winds were brutal but he never exceeded 12 MOA (6 left or 6 right from center) Think about it, that is 120 inches or ten feet of windage. I have not seen the scope that was in question but I would bet money the customer got lost trying to adjust his scope in the conditions. Allen told me he has not had a 10 x 50 returned for tracking failure.

There are several different versions of the 8-32x56. The LRTD-TD #25147 has 1/8 clicks: http://info.sightron.com/Riflescopes/SIII-Series/SIIISS832X56LRTD-TDT/

Thanks--that's just what I was looking for.
