Use of .223 go and no-go gauges

I am considering a 20 Practical project on my Savage action. Can I use my .223 gauges to set up my 20 Practical barrel?

If the shoulder angle is the same and the dimesion from the base to the shoulder is the same,then I would say yes. Forster will answer that or call ptg at noon est and ask dave kiff that question.

I would say yes. 20 practical is 223 necked down with no other changes... so practical!!you don't need a no go guage just put two layers of scotch tape on the base of a go guage and it will be the same length as a no-go guage...+.004"

Is this also true for the 6X45 (6mm-223)? In order to switch barrels on my Savage do I need to strip the bolt to use the go gauge?

Although you dont actually "have to" I always strip the bolt...If nothing else it gives me asssurance in my head that it was done properly
