I'm responding publicly to a number of questions that I've received via PM.
The rifle and scope will only be sold as a unit; i.e., I will not sell the rifle without the scope. But let's talk about that scope. In long range shooting, once you have an accurate rifle and load, it's not much of an exaggeration to say that it's all about wind. It's not uncommon to see wind flags going all different directions all the way downrange, and it's not uncommon to need to adjust your sights between every shot. If I move this scope three clicks (3 @ 1/4 minute) to the right, and then three clicks to the left, the point of impact returns right where it was. That's pretty important. There may well be better scopes on the market now, but this one's no slouch.
Regarding the stock and gunsmithing work: I met Steve and Shirley McGee at a long range match at the Colorado Rifle Club in Byers, CO. They were shooting rifles with their stocks, and I ordered one on the spot. Both Steve and Shirley are great people, exactly the ones you'd want on the firing line with you. The stock arrived in due time, and the final bedding work was done by Bruce Kirk in Fort Collins. Bruce is a gunsmith and former owner of Active Arms; he's now given up the retail business and is only doing custom work. Bruce has built a couple of rifles for me, a .257 Roberts and a .17 Mach IV. He is a perfectionist and it shows in his work. I did the finishing on the stock. Among other things, I'm a woodworker.
This was not my only long range rifle, but it was the best. It has at least 1000 rounds through it, but certainly way less than 2000. There's lots of life left. It has a 1:10 twist and handles 175 Sierra Match Kings beautifully. My match load for this rifle averages 0.45" groups at 100 meters. That's about 0.39 MOA. It's easily a half-minute rifle.
