Loads shown in this picture were safe in this rifle with my components on this day and I advise always working up after checking numerous sources. Upper left and upper right targets reflect fireforming of .22/250 or .250 Savage cases, R-P, Win and Horn cases, 2 bullets 2 powders and 2 primers as well as clean cold bore shots.
The right target, lower left and center groups are where I will concentrate my efforts. I pulled the last round down on the left target and called it at the time. Wind and eye fatigue got me in the center... these would have shot better.
Norma brass neck sized only giving .003" tension, Tula large rifle magnum primers and Berger 68 grain match bullets seated approximately .005" off the lands. I will try some Fed 210's and CCi BR primers with this load next outing.
While RL 15 did provide the same velocity levels as RL 17 (the only 2 powders tested to date) I was experiencing significant vertical with RL 15. This of course may be caused by shooter induced error. But I chose to change stocks in hopes of eliminating that. So while QL was nearly 200 ft/sec off in predictions for RL 15 in this barrel, the RL 17 was only about 30 ft/secs away... acceptable to me. The only input change was the powder type.
