It appears to me that the higher velocity ammo is affected more by the shorter barrel

I missed the start of this discussion. What barrel length did you start with and what is the increase per inch.
My experience is also that higher velocity cartridges are more effected. I just cut 4in off a Savage B22F (21in to 17in) but haven't had a chance to chrono yet. Will post results when I do.

I believe the barrel started at approx 24". That is the first number. The other velocities are listed below each lot of ammo with an inch reduction in length for each velocity.
This is shot in a climate controlled 100yd tunnel.
