Unpolished Panda finish

I swear if anyone ever convinces me to polish another gun, just slap me! Seems that it never ends, lol!

Finishing up the polishing of the edge of my LOP hardware where I fit it to the stock. I still need to polish the bolt and shroud, but I can do that after shipping the stock out for paint. I'll probably go over the trigger guard as well.

Looking good man!
Just checkin'
You have tried one of these cotton wheels on a drill right?
This part used to be white & chalky from 50 years of cat peeing all over it.
Flitz or (I used Blue Magic from Autozone)
Still time consuming but this one thing sped it up
I also have tried Scotch brite pad stuck in a slit dowel with WD-40 as a lube for a mid step before final polish.
Not mirror finish yet,,,,, but the last pic is what it used to look like.
You're kinda lucky your surface is mostly flat

Yeah, but with wheels you can very quickly move or remove any hard lines in the shape. I am going to do the bolt with power tools, but I do enjoy hand work most of the time.

For the RAD I did it all by hand, mounted and scribed, cut with a hacksaw, then all files to shape. Took less than an hour to finish it by sanding 320, 400, 800, 1500, 2000, 2500, flitz. I do all sanding with an acrylic block to keep things flat. On aluminum is goes rather quickly. Windex as a lube makes a big difference vs water.

One thing I teach all my new employees in my shop at work, power tools make mistakes happen much quicker. I train all my new guys by hand first, then power tools.

Ya done good....It looks like mine now...except a lot better...lol
I dont want to .......well perhaps I will give her a touch up oneday.

Aaaaannnndddd more polishing.

Tackled the bolt shroud and did a touch up on the action, barrel and tuner today. Action had a bunch of marks from fitting and bedding.
