Unknown 22

Picked this up today. It’s a Hall Model B. The photo is 45 minutes after it got home, lol. It’ll be another 22br.

Anyway, the picture of the chamber cast has my dad and I stumped. We can’t find what it is. Neck measures .250”, .200 line is .420”, just before shoulder is .419”. Didn’t get a length, but it’s in between a ppc and br. We’re just curious what this could be.

Thanks in advance.

Is it on the BR case ? Maybe a 6 Talldog. I think they made a - .085, and a-.100 short BR case called the Talldog. A BR case with about the same case capacity as a PPC case.

The bolt is a 308 face. I don’t see how something going from .473 at the case head shrinking to .420 at the 200 line is possible. Even the .445 ppc head shrinking down to that seems extreme. Are there cartridges that use a .473 face that mimic the look of 30-30 or 307 win, rim much larger than case body?

We did wonder if someone just chunked some barrel on to sell a whole gun, if that makes sense. The seller didn’t know the caliber, so it was purchased for the receiver, trigger, and stock.

Everything came apart as it should, smoothly but zero slop. The barrel once loose unthreaded by finger with no grit or tight spots.

Lots of wildcats based on the the 30-30 back in the day.

What sets this cartridge apart and makes it interesting is almost no body taper and the shortened length. No body taper is a single shot rifle trait, as is a rimmed cartridge. JD Jones used the 225 case often and the 226 JDJ cartridge is one. E Arther Brown, EABCO is another.

But that leads to another interesting company, Bellm TC, and the 22 Bellm.
Might be worth contacting them about dimensions

.22 Bellm is a .225 Winchester Ackley Improved but with the case body

shortened, so technically it does not meet Ackley’s definition of an “improved”

since it cannot fire a factory .225 Winchester round due to pressures too high

for the Contender.

This is the long version of the Wasp. Love it

Dfish1247 if you will PM me an address, I will throw you a couple of cases in the mail so you can compare

I greatly appreciate the offer. But, i have no interest in pursuing the cartridge. I am jealous of that Thompson, looks amazing.

Well, after months of waiting, here it is together. It’s a 22br. Scope is a 36x Leupold that came off my Kodiak.

It grouped well on the 15 that made it on paper. So with the scope turned all the way right, it is still hitting 8” left. Ordered a set of Burris ZEE rings. Going to try the .010” insert first and see how that does, have a .020” as well if needed. Have these on a couple others and they work wonderfully.

Think the scope base is crooked as the front base had epoxy under it, hmm? The screws nor the holes are stripped so they secure rock solid, the kelbly rings grab solid as well. Action is glued in and only fit by dropping in dead straight, there was no wiggling it in to fit, either went in or didn’t. And it’s rock solid as well.
