i keep running into a problem that is a huge headache. (to me) i get new brass, as in this case 338 lapua that has been fireformed to 338 ai by the smith, but a lot of the necks are dinged. so in order to trim, i have to make them circular, so i order a mandrel from 21st century, of course the mandrell is kinda to big, as if i use it, i now have to re size the necks to get proper neck tension. in fact, i have to resize the necks across the board because they are just a little bit too big but i only have a full length die, so then i have to lube each case and full length size it AFTER running some or all thru the mandrell, then i have to clean the lube off, ,,,,,anyway, rant over,,,,to the question
it would be so easy if there was a universal neck sizer, i mean one where you just drop in your bushing and any case would fit into it,
is there such an animal? i have run into this on my saum reloading and 7mm as well.
i am not a bench rest guy and i know some will say, "always full length resize new brass" the smith said just load it like it is, but the necks are not trimmed or chamferred or deburred and the trim length vary by up to .014 so i at least want to trim them universally and get my preffered neck tension right off the get go.
polite thoughts anyone?
